4-Liter Benchtop Distillation System
The 4-Liter Water Distiller Machine is a standalone purification unit designed to separate pure water from dissolved solids, heavy metals, and municipal additives. It achieves this by boiling raw water into steam and then actively condensing that steam back into a liquid state.
This thermal purification method operates independently of incoming water pressure, making it an ideal point-of-use system for residential kitchens, dental clinics, laboratories, and office spaces.
Hardware & Material Construction
The unit is engineered to ensure that water only contacts food-grade materials during the high-temperature boiling and condensation phases.
- Internal Components: The 4-liter boiling tank, inner cap, condensing coil, and water inlets/outlets are manufactured from Type 304 stainless steel.
- Cooling Mechanism: Integrates aluminum fan blades within the top housing to rapidly dissipate heat and cool the condensing coils.
- Collection Jug: The external collection container is molded from durable, BPA-free plastic. Both the distiller and the collection jug feature wide openings to facilitate easy manual cleaning.
Thermal Performance & Safety Controls
The system features an independent dual-button interface, allowing users to manually start and stop the distillation cycle without needing to unplug the machine from the power source.
- Distillation Rate: Driven by a 750-watt heating element, the machine processes over 0.25 gallons per hour, capable of distilling up to 6 gallons of water in a 24-hour period.
- Automatic Shut-Off: Equipped with a thermal sensor that automatically powers down the unit when internal temperatures reach 115°C (239°F). This provides essential dry-burning and overheat protection once the water has fully evaporated.
Required System Maintenance
To ensure consistent water purity and protect the longevity of the stainless steel boiling chamber, routine maintenance must be performed. Compatible accessories can be sourced from our ace water distillers collection.
Volatile Organic Compound (VOC) Filtration
While distillation effectively removes heavy solids, certain volatile organic compounds (VOCs) with boiling points lower than water can vaporize and condense alongside the steam. Activated Carbon Filter Sachets are placed in the dispenser nozzle to intercept the condensed water, adsorbing residual odors and ensuring a clean taste. These sachets are available in packs of 12, 24, and 36.
Mineral Scale Removal
As water boils and evaporates, the dissolved impurities and hard minerals are left behind, crystallizing onto the bottom of the stainless steel chamber. The Descaler Steam Cleaner is specifically formulated to break down this hardened residue without leaving chemical odors.
Standard Descaling Procedure
- Wipe away any loose scale from the inside of the cooled chamber using a damp cloth.
- Fill the stainless steel chamber with enough clean water to fully submerge the scaled areas.
- Add two (2) tablespoons of the descaler cleaning crystals.
- Leaving the top lid off, plug in the power cord, turn the unit on, and bring the solution to a boil for 20 minutes. Turn the machine off at the wall once complete.
- Allow the water to cool for 10-20 minutes. Discard the solution and rinse the interior thoroughly with clean water. Repeat if heavy scaling persists.

Frequently Asked Questions
How long does a full distillation cycle take?
It takes approximately 5 to 6 hours for the machine to boil, condense, and process a complete 4-liter batch of purified drinking water.
Is it safe to leave the distiller running unattended?
Yes. The unit is equipped with a thermal protection sensor that automatically shuts off the heating element when the internal temperature reaches 115°C (239°F), preventing dry-burning.
What are the carbon filter sachets used for?
The carbon sachets catch volatile organic compounds (VOCs) that may have vaporized along with the water, effectively removing residual odors and ensuring the water tastes fresh.
How frequently should I use the descaler crystals?
Descaling frequency depends on the hardness of your local tap water. You should perform a descaling cycle whenever a noticeable crust or mineral scale builds up on the floor of the stainless steel boiling chamber.

Waterworks Water Coolers Warranty
We offer a 36-month comprehensive warranty on bottle top & POU coolers and the IC8 chiller from the date of purchase. Most transactions may not be covered by the Australian Consumer Law (ACL), but all goods are warranted to the level provided by Waterworks Australia. Returns, for warranty purposes or otherwise, must be pre-approved and at our expense.
Under the ACL, consumers are entitled to a replacement or refund for a major failure and compensation for any other reasonably foreseeable loss or damage. The guarantees, rights, and remedies under the ACL vary significantly by factors such as industry standards and the nature of the product.
