Single Countertop Water Filter Specifications
The Single Countertop Water Filter is designed to generate clean, purified water directly from your existing kitchen tap. It is fully compatible with both chlorinated municipal supplies and non-chlorinated water sources.
By utilizing premium activated carbon, this unit effectively targets and reduces chlorine, sediment, and chemical impurities. This system sits directly on the counter, providing a reliable, eco-friendly hydration solution without the need for permanent plumbing modifications.
Technical Features and Components
This system is locally assembled using only approved, food-grade materials. It meets rigorous quality benchmarks and is manufactured according to NSF, WQA, and FDA standards where applicable.
- Cartridge Dimensions: Utilizes 10" x 2.5" replacement cartridges. Actual measurements for both the poly-spun sediment and coconut carbon block filters are approximately 25 cm by 7 cm.
- Included Hardware: The unit ships complete with all necessary fittings, fixtures, tubing, a dedicated dispensing faucet, and a filter wrench.
- Filter Media: Features a dual-action poly-spun sediment layer combined with a coconut carbon block water filter cartridge.
Filtration Capabilities by Micron Rating
The specific impurities removed from your water depend on the selected micron (uM) filtration size of the carbon block:
- 5.0 Micron (5uM): Reduces chlorine, foul odors, volatile organic compounds (VOCs), pesticides, and a wide range of chemical impurities.
- 0.5 Micron Nominal / 1.0 Micron Absolute: Removes all the chemical impurities listed above, while also physically blocking parasitic microorganisms such as Giardia, Cryptosporidium, and blastocysts.
- Targeted Media Options: Specialized inner cores coated with targeting resin are available to reduce heavy metals or fluoride if present in your local supply.
- Silver-Infused Options: Silver-infused carbon blocks are typically recommended for treating untreated water sources, such as rainwater tanks, that may harbor higher levels of bacteria.
Installation Guidelines
This countertop system requires no professional plumbing. It connects directly to standard sink mixer taps by removing the tap's factory aerator and attaching the supplied diverter valve.
A standard mixer tap will reveal either a 20mm female thread or a 23mm male thread once the aerator is unscrewed. If your tap features a 20mm female thread, you must use the included inside-to-outside thread converter to attach the diverter. If it features a 23mm male thread, the converter is not required.
Lifespan and Warranty Information
Dependent on your local water turbidity and daily usage volume, the carbon block filter cartridges are designed to last between 6 and 12 months, processing up to 9,500 litres of water before requiring replacement.
The housing unit is covered by a 2-year warranty, subject to standard terms and conditions. To maintain this warranty, regular filter changes must be performed using approved consumables, and the unit must be installed indoors, out of direct sunlight.
Frequently Asked Questions
No, the diverter valve provided with this unit requires a fixed, standard mixer tap spout with a threaded end (either a 20mm female or 23mm male thread). It cannot securely attach to pull-out or retractable spray hoses.
A 5-micron filter is excellent for removing chemicals, chlorine, and odors, and it typically offers a faster flow rate. A 0.5-micron filter has much smaller pores, allowing it to physically trap microscopic parasites like Giardia and Cryptosporidium, making it ideal for absolute purity.
Filter cartridges should be replaced every 6 to 12 months, or after filtering approximately 9,500 litres. You may also need to replace the filter sooner if you notice a significant drop in water pressure or a return of chlorine tastes and odors.
